{"id":1262,"date":"2018-04-13T14:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cmni.co.uk\/?p=1262"},"modified":"2018-04-13T10:35:10","modified_gmt":"2018-04-13T09:35:10","slug":"2018-acm-awards-a-look-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cmni.co.uk\/index.php\/2018\/04\/13\/2018-acm-awards-a-look-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"2018 ACM Awards &#8211; A Look Ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ACM Awards are taking place a few days from now, and the show is promising to be inspiring, entertaining and poignant.<\/p>\n<p>Going into Sunday night\u2019s show,\u00a0<strong>Chris Stapleton\u00a0<\/strong>leads the list of nominees with eight nods in five categories, including Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Single of the Year for \u201cBroken Halos,\u201d Song of the Year for \u201cWhiskey and You\u201d and Album of the Year for\u00a0<em>From a Room, Vol. 1<\/em>. He\u2019s won numerous awards over the past few years, and while he\u2019s grateful for every single trophy he takes home, he has a special affinity for the Album categories.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">So excited to perform <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CryPretty?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CryPretty<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ACMawards?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ACMawards<\/a> this weekend!! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/k65hGmZzuV\">pic.twitter.com\/k65hGmZzuV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Carrie Underwood (@carrieunderwood) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/carrieunderwood\/status\/983905194323927041?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 11, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are all significant and if you get one award for anything it\u2019s a treat. But any of the awards that awarded the album, the album awards, because I really wanted to make an album that was good,\u201d says Chris. \u201cI wanted that to be a thing, again, more than I wanted it to be, \u2018Well here\u2019s the single and eight other songs.\u2019 So, the album awards for me were important in that we did our job in a good way, you know. Just I have such an affinity for albums that I don\u2019t know if I want those more or if they mean more, but they are all meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luke Bryan<\/strong>\u00a0has won a handful of ACM Awards over his career, including the New Artist of the Year Award in 2010 following it up with two Entertainer Awards just a few years later. He tells us he is honored to be included in that category. \u201c[I\u2019m] so honored to have another Entertainer of the Year nomination and I always think about winning my first Entertainer of the Year [Award] at the ACMs,\u201d he says. \u201cTo go to the ACMs knowing that you\u2019re one of those lucky people that have that nomination, it just tells me that I\u2019m doing all I can and doing the right things out on the road and hopefully, the fans are still loving what I\u2019m trying to give to them every night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keith Urban\u00a0<\/strong>has quite the plethora of nods going into this year\u2019s ACM Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year for \u201cFemale\u201d \u00a0and twice, as both artist and producer in the Vocal Event of the Year category for \u201cThe Fighter\u201d (featuring\u00a0<strong>Carrie Underwood<\/strong>). Urban won Top New Male Vocalist of the Year in 2000, and Top Male Vocalist of the Year in 2004 and 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Keith\u2019s \u201cFemale\u201d was nominated for Song of the Year. The Top 10 hit was written by Nicolle Galyon, Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman, and he said he just had a feel that he needed to record the song and let everyone hear it. \u201cThe song spoke to me. It just spoke to me,\u201d said Keith. \u201cAs I was singing it, I thought I feel like I\u2019ve known this song my whole life. Something else was going on with it how it felt to me. So, I love it. I believe in it.
