Chart topping musician, vocalist and songwriter\u00a0Lindsay Ell<\/strong>\u00a0has announced her highly anticipated sophomore album\u00a0heart theory<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>out August 14th 2020 via BMG\/BBR Music Group. Lindsay premiered new single\u00a0“Want me back”,<\/strong>\u00a0which was co-written with\u00a0Kane Brown<\/strong>, Matt McGinn & Lindsay Rimes, on\u00a0BBC Radio 2<\/a>\u00a0last Thursday (25\/6).<\/p>\n

With fans worldwide clamoring for new music from her \u2013\u00a0heart theory\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>marks Ell’s first new original album in three years following tour dates across the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK and Europe \u2013 she captivated them with a digital scavenger hunt this week, teasing the big news across social platforms before revealing album details on\u00a0TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Heart theory\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is an incredibly personal concept album comprised of 12 tracks that journey through each stage of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, testing, and acceptance. Ell co-wrote 11 of the songs, enlisting help from acclaimed writers & artists including\u00a0Tyler Hubbard<\/strong>\u00a0of Florida Georgia Line and\u00a0Brandy Clark<\/strong>\u00a0among others on the project.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0heart theory\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>stemmed from Ell’s personal experience, its arc serves as a source of solace for the universal process of experiencing any type of hardship. “If theory is the science of music, heart theory is the science of a heart,” Ell says of the record. “I hope this road map can be a comfort if you need it, reassurance when you need to remember to believe in yourself or maybe just a glimpse into a memory that’s made you who you are.”<\/p>\n

The concept of\u00a0heart theory<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0extends to every aspect of the album \u2013 its cover art features the spectrum of corresponding colors to each stage, mirroring the music’s movement itself from dark to light, while its track-list subtly reveals the album title through use of seemingly random capitalization.<\/p>\n

Due to quarantine, Ell completed\u00a0heart theory<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with multiple GRAMMY-nominated legendary producer\u00a0Dann Huff<\/strong>\u00a0(Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban) from a distance and two different locations. Ell takes the unique challenge posed by the pandemic to almost every element of album completion in stride: “If my last record was called\u00a0The Project<\/em>, this could be called\u00a0The Process<\/em>.”\u00a0The Project<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Ell’s first full-length album \u2013 debuted at No. 1 on the Country Album Sales Chart and was named Billboard’s Best Country Album of 2017.<\/p>\n

Ell will co-host\u00a0CMA Summer Stay-Cay<\/a>\u00a0special on July 1st with BBR Music Group label mate\u00a0Jimmie Allen<\/strong>.
