Jordan Davis<\/strong>\u00a0announced his new EP,\u00a0Buy Dirt<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0to be released May 21. Produced by Paul DiGiovanni,\u00a0Buy Dirt<\/em>\u00a0is Davis\u2019 eight-song follow-up to last year\u2019s self-titled EP and his debut album\u00a0Home State.\u00a0<\/em>Davis co-wrote every song on the EP except for the John Prine inspired \u201cBlow Up Your TV,\u201d who is a major influence on Davis and his music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

As a husband and new father, Davis finds himself in a different place in his life,\u00a0<\/em>and the songs reflect it. Davis stakes his claim as a country innovator, both expanding and modernizing his sound without abandoning his love for the classics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always loved artists who take risks,\u201d says Davis. \u201cI\u2019m in a different spot in my life than I was when I released Home State<\/em>. We all are! 2020 was a tough time for everyone. I was able to use that time to re-center some things in my world, and I didn\u2019t want those lessons to go to waste. I wanted to create something special. The best way to that was to write honestly, and we did a lot of that on this record.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Country superstar Luke Bryan lends his vocals on the vulnerable title track and centerpiece of the EP. The two musicians had first met at an awards show, then bumped into each other on the golf course throughout the years that followed. \u201cWe sat around the fire after a golf tournament one day, smoking cigars and talking about everything but<\/em> music,\u201d Davis recalls. \u201cThat conversation always stuck with me. Luke isn\u2019t just a great entertainer; he\u2019s a great Dad, a great husband, and a great friend, too. That\u2019s what \u2018Buy Dirt\u2019 embodies. When I wrote \u2018Buy Dirt,\u2019 I knew he could relate to the song\u2019s message. I took a chance and asked him to join me on the recording, and he said yes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
