Steve Earle – The Background

With around three weeks until Steve Earle rolls his tour bus into Belfast, we take a look at whats inspired him, where he has come from and take a look at his most recent work. If you ever had any doubt about where Steve Earle’s musical roots are planted, his new collection, So You Wannabe an Outlaw, makes it perfectly plain.  “There’s nothing ‘retro’ about this record,” he states, “I’m just acknowledging where I’m coming from.”  So You Wannabe an Outlaw is the first recording he has made in Austin, Texas.  Earle has lived in New York City for the past decade but he acknowledges, “Look, I’m always gonna be a Texan, no matter what I do. And I’m always going to be somebody who learned their craft in Nashville. It’s who I am.”

Jenn Bostic brings “Revival”, UK album release tour to a close with Sold Out Belfast show

Northern Ireland music fans were spoiled for choice this past weekend with a trio of Nashville artists hitting Belfast stages.  Whilst Kendell Marvel and Brothers Osborne were rocking the Limelight, fellow Nashville resident Jenn Bostic brought her “Revival”, UK album release tour to a specular close with a Sold Out show at the nearby Crescent Arts Centre.

Kendell Marvel to Support Brothers Osborne

Main acts are what draws the crowd to any event, from stadium and arena tours, to the smaller intimate gigs. One thing that they all have in common is that these event use support acts, or openers, Acts that fill the time and warm up the crowd until the big guys are due on! Sometimes all you want is to get past the support to the main item, but sometimes, the support act can really surprise you, leaving you wanting more…and I think Kendell Marvell will do just this when he appears prior to the Brothers Osborne, opening their gigs during their UK and Ireland tour.

Saturday 5th May see’s the fabulous Brothers Osborne roll into Northern Ireland for their first UK gig of this your. They’ll be playing in Belfast’s Limelight, straight after a Dublin appearance on the previous night. The event comes just two weeks after the release of their second album ‘Port Saint Joe’. CMNI’s very own Courtenay Mercer shared the great news with us last Friday…read about it here. The band also tweeted  instructions to make sure you know the best way in which to listen to it!
