Premiered exclusively last week on CMT, Aaron Watson fans can now check out the video for his current single ‘Run Wild Horses’ here, ahead of his forthcoming run of UK shows this September and a much-anticipated festival debut at The Long Road alongside Carrie Underwood, The Shires and more. The real life love story, featuring his wife of 15 years, Kimberly (@MrsAaronWatson) as she makes her music video debut, and directed by Benjamin Ranzinger, was filmed in the Watsons’ hometown of Buffalo Gap, Texas (population 468) at one of their favourite spots, the Perini Ranch and inspired by the song’s lyrics:
“Run free as the wind my passion on your skin
Your lips on mine run wild horses
Run out of control deep down in your soul
We become one, run wild horses run.”
Fans and critics agree that the self-penned homage to his wife “turns the heat way up” as “R&B overtones dominate a sultry, guitar and fiddle-heavy arrangement that practically reaches out to dim the lights itself” (Taste of Country). ‘Run Wild Horses’, which is currently racing its way through the 40’s on the US country radio charts and gaining airplay worldwide, also racked up some impressive playlist adds this week including Pandora’s New Country Now, Apple’s Hot Tracks, and Randy Travis “Diggin’ Up Songs” on Spotify, with over 2m streams to date.
