Following the success around her recent solo single ‘Why I Need You’ which has been on various country radio playlists across the UK and had nearly 100k video views to date, London-based Irish singer/songwriter Megan O’Neill has today released another track from her forthcoming album, the upbeat country-leaning song ‘Ghost of You’. Recorded in Nashville earlier this year, Megan describes the song as “one of those ones that just kind of flowed out – it was effortless to write in some ways but then of course, when editing, you can spend hours changing one lyric here and another one there! It’s about loved ones lost but their memories live on as part of you. One part of you wishes you could let them go – let those memories go – and yet another part of you is thankful that you still have them with you in some spiritual way.”

Kerry Fearon is a name that’s currently stuck right in the middle of Irish Country. She’s a busy wee woman with many fingers in pies and one pie that is simmering along nicely is that of her solo career. Just this week she released her second single, ‘Luxury Liner’ to radio. The song, written by Gram Parsons is the song that was the title track from the EmmyLou Harris album. Released in 1976. Kerry’s version has been brought up to the modern day and was produced and arranged at No Sweat Studios Coleraine by Clive Culbertson.
Bucking convention hasn’t always been the popular path, but for Eric Church there is no question about where he prioritizes his relationship with his fans. He showed this when he sent his 2015 album, Mr. Misunderstood, to members of his fan club, dubbed the Church Choir, before surprise announcing it at the 2015 CMA Awards and putting it on sale to the public. Maren Morris, Eric Church and Brothers Osborne are all up for Grammy nominations in this months awards which are due to take place live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday, January 28. Either way they will walk off the stage champions as the artists will unite to perform a tribute to the victims lost to violence and terrorism at live music events in 2017.
Breakout country duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) released their brand new single “Tequila” just six days ago and it’s a shot that has taken them to the top. The song ascended immediately to No. 1 on the iTunes U.S. Country Singles chart and remains Top 10 All-Genre, hitting as high as No. 5 over the weekend. It debuted at No. 15 on the Shazam country charts and snagged a spot in the all-genre Top 200. In less than a week, “Tequila” has sold nearly 20,000 tracks in the U.S. alone and boasts over 1 million on-demand streams, topping Spotify’s Hot Country playlist, before officially hitting radio airwaves today.

- On this day December 30, 1962Singer Brenda Lee was hurt when she attempted to rescue her poodle, Cee Cee from her burning house in Nashville. Lee's nine-room home, valued at $37,000 was destroyed along with $25,000 worth of clothing. Cee Cee later died of smoke inhalation.
